115.267. Experimental use, adoption of or abandonment of electronic voting equipment authorized.
This Missouri statute is very short – it is a title and one sentence. It sets forth that an election authority (see Statute 115.015) may use electronic voting equipment (that has been approved). But the election authority may also abandon use of the equipment.
The ability to abandon electronic voting equipment is notable. It means that the voters of the county have more say in how their ballots are counted than they may understand. A county clerk is a an elected official and holds office to serve the people of the county. Citizens should exercise the power of their voice if they would like to see elections hand-counted in their county.
