CISA, FBI Confirm China Hacked Telecoms Providers for Spying
CISA and the FBI have confirmed that Chinese hackers compromised the networks of telecommunications companies to spy on specific targets. “Specifically, we have identified that PRC-affiliated actors have compromised networks at multiple telecommunications companies to enable the theft of customer call records data, the compromise of private communications of a limited number of individuals who are primarily involved in government or political activity, and the copying of certain information that was subject to U.S. law enforcement requests pursuant to court orders,” the alert reads.
But certainly, they would never hack our election systems.
CISA admitted that China hacked U.S. telecom providers for spying, exposing vulnerabilities in digital infrastructure. This incident, following CISA’s own 2024 hack (China Hacks Telecom Providers), undermines trust in electronic voting systems, especially after CISA’s denials of foreign interference (CISA: No Chance Foreign Adversary Can Change US Elections).
